Prof Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib re-appointed UTeM vice-chancellor

MALACCA: Prof Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib has been re-appointed as vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Malacca (UTeM) for another two years, effective June 16.
In a statement issued here today, UTeM said the decision was made with the approval of Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.
"Under his administration, UTeM continues to grow as a prestigious technical public university in the country and is known not just locally but also internationally in the field of engineering and engineering technology.
"He also stressed on human resource development, it said.
Shahrin began his career in UTeM, previously known as Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia, as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communications in 2002, before being appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and International) in 2013 and then as its Vice-Chancellor in 2014.
He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Computer System Engineering from Purdue University, United States, in 1989, followed by a Master's degree in 1991, before getting his doctorate degree in Parallel Processing from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, in 1995.
Prior to his appointment as UTeM Vice-Chancellor, he was with Universiti Telekom, Universiti Multimedia, and the Malacca Foundation College. — Bernama
