Asia Bioenergy to venture into halal food business

    PETALING JAYA: Asia Bioenergy Technologies Bhd (ABT) is collaborating with Hong Kong and China-based companies to produce and export halal-certified food products to the global marketplace.
    In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, ABT said its wholly owned subsidiary Asiabio Capital Sdn Bhd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hong Kong YRZC International Group Co Ltd, Shan Xi Hong Hui Food Limited Liability Company and Shan Dong Wang Jia Yuan Zi Halal Food Brewing Co Ltd on June 3.
    “The objective of the MoU is to establish collaboration and explore opportunities to develop and produce, and export halal-certified food products to global marketplace that is mutually beneficial to the parties,” it said.
    Under the MoU, Asiabio Capital will act as a global halal-certified food product channeling centre and regulation body for food product development and quality. Asiabio Capital will also appoint YRZC to act as an exclusive business development agent in China.
    The two companies have agreed to accept the products of Shan Xi Hong Hui Food and Shan Dong Wang Jia Yuan Zi Halal Food Brewing. Asiabio Capital will also assist YRZC to apply for halal-certified licence from Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia on behalf of the two food companies.
    In addition, YRZC will be appointed to assist the two food companies by supplying project planner, marketer and technical optimisation team.
