Man stabs girlfriend during quarrel over their relationship

ALOR STAR: A 23-year-old woman is recovering in hospital from several stab wounds in the abdomen inflicted by her boyfriend following a quarrel last night during which she told him she was discontinuing their relationship.
The woman was assaulted at about 7pm in Jalan Datuk Kumbar here by the man, also aged 23, Kota Star Police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin said in a statement today.
The couple had met to discuss their relationship and started quarrelling, he said, adding that the man then pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the woman several times in the abdomen.
The woman was also injured in the fingers and knees during the struggle with the man, he said.
Mohd Rozi said the woman was admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital and was in stable condition following treatment.
He also said that the police were on the hunt for the man. — Bernama
