I am a victim of circumstances, says Zakaria

KUALA LUMPUR: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) CEO Datuk Zakaria Arshad told theSun that while he accepted his order to go on leave, the action was unfair and that he was a "victim of circumstances".
"I have told them (the company) my side of the story many times. Felda has been dealing with Safitex even before I became CEO.
"Safitex has given an assurance that it would settle all the outstanding payment, but there were some complications, apparently.
"I think it's fair to say I am a victim of circumstances," he said.
Zakaria said he had also contacted the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate him and the company.
"I was the one who asked MACC to investigate. I have invited them over to FGV. There are many other things going on around here," he said.
When asked to elaborate, he simply said: "A lot of things are going on that many do not know."
MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki said the commission has received information related to FGV and will examine it for elements of corruption and power abuse.
"To gather more information on the matter, we urge Zakaria to turn up to give us his statement in the coming days," he said.
