Live donkey fed to tigers in China zoo

A GROUP of disgruntled shareholders of a zoo in the Chinese province of Jiangsu did the unimaginable by feeding a live donkey to tigers on Monday.
The men pushed the donkey into a moat in the tiger enclosure at the Yancheng Safari Park. It was quickly set upon by tigers. It died about 30 minutes later after being mauled.
The shareholders had wanted to move the animals out of the zoo, but were prevented by security guards. They then shoved the poor donkey into the tiger’s enclosure for it to be eaten alive.

According to reports, it was due to a dispute between the zoo and its investors. The assets of the zoo was frozen two years ago after a legal tussle with another firm.
This upset some shareholders as they were not getting any returns on their investment. It was said that several animals, including two giraffes and a chimpanzee, were dying as permits could not be obtained to send them for medical treatment elsewhere.
Taking the matter into their own hands, they tried to moved the animals out, but was stopped.
“Since we could not have any benefits, we thought why not feed to the tigers, at least we can save on animal feed,” one unnamed investor told the Modern Express newspaper.
The zoo has apologised for the incident and pledged that it will never happen again.
