Videos of pre-dawn brawl at popular nasi kandar shop go viral

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two video clips of a violent brawl at a famous nasi kandar restaurant at Taman Chai Leng here are being circulated via social media.
The two videos, taken from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage at the restaurant, show a violent scuffle between two groups of men.
The confrontation appears to have erupted following a verbal exchange between several men seated at opposite ends of the restaurant.
The situation escalated dramatically when the members of one group began throwing objects which appear to be ice cubes, plastic bags with drinks and chairs at the other.
The other group immediately reacted by throwing objects in return and started to punch and kick the first group of men.
Chairs were also seen being thrown at each other.
A family with a senior citizen sitting at a nearby table was seen panicking and attempting to escape to safety as the situation became chaotic.
The second video clip showed the incident from the kitchen area of the restaurant, where two men were seen grabbing each other while throwing punches.
It is learnt that the incident took place during the night or very early morning.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid confirmed the incident and said a statement will be issued later.
