Despatch rider charged with possession of counterfeit money

PETALING JAYA: A despatch rider pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of possession of a counterfeit RM100 note.
Mohd Azrul Shardin, 30, was charged with possessing the counterfeit note, which he knew was fake and with the intention to use it as genuine, at a shopping centre at One Utama, Bandar Utama here, between 1.30pm and 2.30pm last June 4.
The charge, under Section 489C of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to 10 years, if found guilty.
Magistrate Atiqah Abd Karim@Husaini allowed him bail of RM5,000 in one surety and set Aug 1 for mention.
