Eight, including woman, detained after testing positive for drugs
KEPALA BATAS: Eight suspects including a woman who tested positive for drugs were detained by the Penang National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in Kampung Lembah here early this morning.
In the operation which began at 8pm yesterday and ended at 4am today, the AADK enforcers conducted checks in several locations known as "port" for drug addicts in the area before detaining the eight individuals, including a senior citizen.
Penang AADK Enforcement Chief Nasruddin Abdul Rahman said the eight suspects who were detained were between 20 to 60 years old and the team had also seized two packets of heroin which were with one of the eight suspects.
"During the operation, some of them tried to escape through the bushes behind the house where they took the drugs, but quick action by the AADK enforcers led to their arrest," he said here today.
He added that all eight were taken to the Seberang Prai North AADK office for further investigations. — Bernama
