SHAH ALAM: Highway concessionaire Lingakran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak) expect a ten percent increase in the number of vehicles on the Sprint and Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) highways as the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration draws closer.
Litrak Group chief executive officer Sazally Saidi said usually those going out of the Klang Valley used the Sprint Highway to head towards the East Coast, and the LDP to head north and south.
"Usually the traffic increases (on the Sprint and LDP expressways) at the last minute, about two to three days before Hari Raya, and we expect a ten percent increase in the number of vehicles," he told reporters after attending a Litrak and Sprint Ramadan charity programme at the Aeon shopping centre here, today.
Sazally said the LDP which is normally used by more than 470,000 vehicles each week, is expected to see an increase of about 10,000 vehicles in the week before Aidilfitri.
Commenting on the company's preparations ahead of the festive period, Sazally said Litrak would increase auxiliary police patrols along the two highways managed by Litrak to provide quick response and assistance to motorists.
Earlier during the ceremony, 40 underprivileged children from the Al Fattah Welfare Association in Bandar Sunway were provided RM300 each to purchase items of their choice for the celebration at the shopping centre.
Sazally said Litrak and Sprint have spent more than RM15 million on various corporate social responsibility programmes since 2009, including toll rebates to motorists during major festivities. — Bernama
