Najib to launch second phase of MRT SBK Line on July 17

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak will be launching the second phase of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sg Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line between Semantan and Kajang on July 17.
"7/17/2017. I have chosen this date after giving much thought," he said during his speech at the launch of the Third National Physical Plan, Second National Urban Policy and the National Rural Physical Policy at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, here, today.
Referring to the launch of the first phase of the line from Sungai Buloh station to Semantan station on December 16, last year, Najib said the launch of phase two, from Semantan Station to Kajang Station which allow the trains to run the entire alignment.
"Through both phases of the MRT, the government estimates that the service will benefit 500,000 commuters daily," he added.
The RM23 billion MRT SBK line, which covers 51km with 31 stations, is part of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) projects initiated by Najib.
Each train set serving the line will have four cars, allowing a total capacity of 1,200 passengers with the frequency of 3.5 minutes between each train and estimating its daily ridership to be about 400,000 passengers.
