Former FAM vice-president dies (Updated)

IPOH: Former Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) vice-president Datuk Seri Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar died at a private hospital here today from viral infection.
His youngest child, Raja Nur Dzoriifah Raja Ahmad Zainuddin, 20, said her father breathed last at about 8.30 am and would be buried after the Friday prayer at the Jalan Bendahara Muslim cemetery.
She said Raja Ahmad Zainuddin was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday after he complained of fever and abdominal pain.
"He had been complaining of fever and abdominal pain since last Monday, but only agreed to be sent to hospital two days later," she said when met at her residence at Kampung Seri Ampang B here.
Raja Nur Dzoriifah said as far as she knew, her father did not suffer from any illness and was shocked with his death.
She said the family, comprising her father, mother and two siblings, were in Kuala Lumpur last Sunday for the Hari Raya shopping.
"It is normal for us to go to Kuala Lumpur to shop for our baju Raya, and last Sunday, he looked so happy," she said.
Raja Ahmad Zainuddin leaves a wife, Datin Seri Sabaniah Ahmad Sabri, 56, so Raja Ahmad Zhafir, 28, and two daughters, Raja Nur Dzafirah, 23, and Raja Nur Dzhoriifah, 20. Raja Ahmad Zainuddin, 61, was former Kubu Gajah and Batu Kurau assemblymen, and also former Larut Member of Parliament from 1999 to 2008.
He had also served as chairman of the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board and director of the Pilgrims Fund Board. — Bernama
