1,174 people in Bagan Datuk receive Ramadan aid

BAGAN DATUK: A total of 1,174 asnaf (persons eligible to receive tithe) and people with disabilities in the Bagan Datuk district today received Ramadan aid contributed by the Deputy Prime Minister's family and the Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin Foundation.
They comprised 510 household heads, single mothers, the disabled and orphans from the Rungkup state constituency and 664 recipients from the Hutan Melintang state constituency.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said apart from his personal contribution, the Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin Foundation also contributed RM250,000 and each recipient received RM200.
"When we receive aid, we must be grateful to the givers, who asked for nothing (in return), but we must pray for their prosperity, in terms of their business, and also for their family," he said.
Ahmad Zahid, who is Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament, was speaking at the presentation of Ihya Ramadan aid for recipients in the Rungkup state constituency here today.

The Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin Foundation was represented by Naza Group executive chairman SM Faisal Nasimuddin and his brother, SM Nasaruddin Nasimuddin.
After the event, the deputy prime minister attended the Ihya Ramadan programme at the Hutan Melintang state constituency.
Earlier today, he attended the "Tadarus Al-Quran" programme, involving 1,423 participants, at the Hutan Melintang UMNO Hall. — Bernama
