GUA MUSANG: Gloom continues to envelop 14 families who were victims of floods in December, 2014 as they have to celebrate Aidilfitri for the third year running at the Ethnobotany National Service Training Centre (PLKN) relief centre here.
They are the last group of 40 families staying at the camp, not having moved to the new permanent houses (RKB) currently being built by the government.
A victim, Che Harun Che Awang, 70, said, although others had long shifted to RKB, his family and 13 other families were still languishing at the PLKM camp which was difficult to visit by relatives and friends during Aidilfitri.
"The RKB promised in Kampung Tanah Puteh here, being built by the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK), are in the final stages of construction," he said when met here today.
Che Harun said he had hoped to move in before Aidilfitri but it was not to be as facilities such as roads, electricity and water supply were still not available.
"I long to celebrate Hari Raya in my own house as it will be more comfortable and can accommodate more family members.
"We are fated to face the same predicament for the third year running staying at the camp," he said.
Rohayu Mat Lazim, 40, said she did not make much preparations for celebrating Aidilfitri and made do with what she had due to many constraints staying at the camp.
She said relatives could not spend the night when visiting here at the flood relief centre as the space is tight.
"Celebrating Aidilfitri in my own house will be merrier as it will have complete home furnishings too," she said. — Bernama
