Accountant general's department denies sending email on unclaimed money

PUTRAJAYA: The Accountant General's Department (AGD) has never issued email to individuals or companies to offer services to manage unclaimed money and never appointed agents for the purpose.
In a statement today, the AGD said it regretted the spread of fake emails using the email address of che.pee.samsudin@accountant.com offering to manage the unclaimed money.
"We have taken action by reporting this matter to the authorities for further action. The AGD advises the public not to trust fake email and to be careful about the unclaimed money management service offered.
"The public can contact AGD or go to www.anm.gov.my to get more information about unclaimed money."
The Unclaimed Money Management Division serves as the Office of the Registrar of Unclaimed Money and the Accountant General was appointed as the Registrar of Unclaimed Money from June 1, 1975.
The office is responsible for enforcing the Unclaimed Money Act 1985 which include to manage, inspect records of companies, receive, monitor and pay the unclaimed money. — Bernama
