Bursa Malaysia ends higher

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended higher today, boosted by persistent buying in selected heavyweights led by Genting-related stocks and CIMB.
The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 7.91 points to finish at 1,792.35 from Tuesday's close of 1,784.44.
The key index, which opened 4.89 points better at 1,789.33, moved between 1,786.92 and 1,793.07 throughout the day.
On the broader market, gainers outpaced losers 483 to 381, with 398 counters unchanged, 541 counters untraded and 29 others suspended.
Volume declined to 1.95 billion units valued at RM2.49 billion from Tuesday's 2.05 billion units valued at RM2.57 billion.
Genting Malaysia surged 22 sen to RM5.85, CIMB added 12 sen to RM6.73 and Genting soared 21 sen to RM9.86.
Among other heavyweights, Maybank increased four sen to RM9.61, Public Bank gained two sen to RM20.40, Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.62 and TNB was flat at RM14.38.
Actively traded stocks included Dagang Nexchange which was two sen higher at 60.5 sen, Nexgram Holdings edged up half-a-sen to five sen, Priceworth International was flat at 27 sen and Anzo Holdings eased 1.5 sen to 21.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index improved 53.29 points to 12,783.58, the FBMT100 Index expanded 54.06 points to 12,422.93, while the FBM Emas Syariah Index gained 4.28 points at 12,983.4.
The FBM 70 jumped 63.65 points to 15,264.49 and the FBM Ace increased 17.37 points to 6,370.14.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index put on 87.79 points to 16,879.34, the Plantation Index shed 6.29 points to 7,931.1, while the Industrial Index edged up 0.12 of-a-point to 3,289.86.
Main Market turnover was slightly higher at 1.38 billion units worth RM2.38 billion from 1.35 billion units worth RM2.43 recorded on Tuesday.
Volume on the ACE Market eased to 379.45 million units valued at RM80.26 million from Tuesday's 475.75 million units valued at RM113.99 million.
Warrants declined to 179.08 million units worth RM19.83 million from 209.13 million units worth RM21.07 million yesterday.
Consumer products accounted for 99.71 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (372.11 million), construction (109.18 million), trade and services (475.30 million), technology (40.95 million), infrastructure (10.05 million), SPAC (700,000), finance (94.05 million), hotels (990,200), properties (137.88 million), plantations (24.45 million), mining (0), REITs (11.36 million) and closed/fund (29,000).
The physical price of gold as at 5pm stood at RM167.99 per gramme, up 80 sen from RM169.19 at 5pm yesterday. — Bernama
