KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was fined RM1,000 in default three months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here today after pleading guilty to voluntarily injuring his sister in March.
Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som sentenced Mohd Shariman Muhamad, 39, for intentionally injuring Zariah Muhamad, 47, by shoving her head forcefully and pushing her roughly.
He committed the offence at a unit in Pantai Permai housing, Pantai Dalam, here, at 4.51pm, on March 2, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to a year or a fine not exceeding RM2,000, or both.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin prosecuted.
"I regret the mistake and apologise. I am now staying at a surau," said Mohd Shariman who was not represented.
He said the incident happened because he was unhappy with his sister for putting a clothes line in his room, causing a misunderstanding between them. — Bernama
