PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started its investigations into Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV).
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki (pix) said that the commission had raided FGV's headquarters on Thursday and seized documents related to the case.
"The MACC is now in the process of studying the documents seized in the raid and to collect evidence regarding the investigation, before further action is taken.
"The investigation is focused on six issues involving FGV, and the anti-graft body will also call witnesses and those involved to aid in the probe soon,"he said in a statement today.
Azam said all issues will be checked in detail to ascertain whether there are elements of bribery and misuse of power, before further action is taken in accordance with the existing law.
"The MACC requests all everyone to give the investigating team time, and not make any speculations that can affect the investigations," Azam added.
On Tuesday, FGV chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad and three others were issued letters by chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad asking them to take an indefinite leave of absence pending a probe into the dealings between Delima Oil and Safitex, an Afghan company with which it had business dealings.
The other three suspended are FGV chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha, FGV Trading chief executive officer Ahmad Salman Omar, and Delima Oil Products senior general manager Kamarzaman Abd Karim.
