SEREMBAN: Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pix) has denied the report that he would give 'duit raya' (Aidilfitri angpow) to members of the public who come to Rantau Assemblyman's Office or any mosque in the state constituency during Hari Raya.
Mohamad who is also Rantau assemblyman said the report, which had gone viral over WhatsApp, was a false news aimed at confusing the public.
"For everyone's information, my office in Rantau has long stopped giving 'duit raya' to the public, either for Hari Raya, or any other festivals," he said in a simple press statement here today.
Mohamad said the spread of the false news was an old tactic used by certain quarters to sabotage their opponents, especially during general elections or by-elections.
"I hope members of the public will not fall for this false news that went viral on the social media," he added. — Bernama
