Nhaveen's mother inconsolable at his funeral

GEORGE TOWN: The grieving mother of T. Nhaveen was inconsolable as the coffin of her son was placed in the hearse for its final journey to the Batu Gantong crematorium.
D. Shanti let out a mournful wail as family members attempted to console her.
Relatives and friends were also seen holding mini placards with the words "Justice for Nhaveen" during the solemn ceremony.
Nhaveen was cremated at the Batu Gantong crematorium at 4.35pm.
The tragic plight of the 18-year-old youth drew thousands of people to his funeral and many wept openly during the final rites.
Nhaveen's friends and schoolmates said he would be sorely missed and described him as a helpful and cheerful person.
A. Balan, 18, told theSun he knew Nhaveen when both of them were in the same class in Form 1.
He said the deceased was jovial and always willing to help his friends.
"I will definitely miss him," he said, hoping the assailants would be sternly punished.
A 27-year-old plumber who declined to be named, told theSun he did not know Nhaveen but came to pay his last respects after reading of the tragic turn of events in the media.
He expressed hope that the root cause of bullying would be tackled.
Nhaveen succumbed to his injuries due to blunt trauma to the head at the Penang Hospital yesterday evening.
Nhaveen and his friend T. Previn, 19, were beaten up by a group of attackers when they were out for supper in Jalan Kaki Bukit on June 9.
Previn sustained minor injuries while Nhaveen slipped into a coma following the brutal assault.
Police have since reclassified the case as murder and five of the assailants have been remanded to assist investigations.
