Roasters Chicken Run is back

ONE of the most popular events on the Malaysian calendar is the annual Roasters Chicken Run (RCR).
What sets it apart from other runs is that participants are required to balance an egg on a cone, and make it to the finishing line without breaking the egg.
Now into its 13th year, the run will be held at Berjaya Times Square on July 16 from 7am onwards.
Participants will be running a pre-designated route of 5km (for runners aged 13 and above), or 2km (for runners aged seven to 12 years).
Kenny Rogers Roasters Malaysia (KRR), which is a strong advocate of an active and healthy lifestyle for Malaysians, is inviting all to join in the run, win some prizes, and contribute to the community at the same time.
Berjaya Roasters Malaysia deputy general manager and RCR 2017 chairwoman Esther Woo explains: “Proceeds from the RCR’s signups will be contributed to Food Aid Foundation, a non-profit organisation which acts as a food bank to provide basic food to charitable homes nationwide, including rehabilitation and feeding centres, as well as to poor families.”
She adds that KRR’s collaboration with the foundation in the last two years has managed to raise some RM660,000 in food donations nationwide.
These include a total of 3,340 wholesome KRR meals for 35 homes and organisations between July 2015 and March 2017.
Woo says: “Keeping to our values as advocates of health and nutrition, we look forward to instilling the importance of having wholesome meals and educating the public to live an active and healthy lifestyle.”
Participants can still sign up for the run at RM70 for adults, and RM55 for children aged from seven to 12 years.
Registered participants will receive freebies worth more than RM100, including an exclusive RCR T-shirt, Berjaya Times Square Theme Park entrance wristband, a goodie bag, finisher’s medal, and an e-cert.
The Roasters Chicken Run 2017 is co-organised by Berjaya Times Square and Berjaya Time Square Theme Park, together with supporting partner Ultron.
