KLUANG: Police have detained two persons believed to be involved in an incident at the Ramadan bazaar here where Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong and his staff were roughed up by a group of traders. Police are looking for others who were involved.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Laham said the two, 35 and 49 years old, surrendered themselves to Kluang police station and had recorded their statement on Sunday noon.
In the Saturday incident, Liew and his staff were distributing dates to the public at the dry goods section of the bazaar when they were harassed by a group of people.
Mohamad Laham said the suspects were being investigated for causing hurt without weapon under Section 323 of the Penal Code, and for criminal intimidation under 506 of the same Code.
On about 8pm Sunday, Liew shared a five-minute video of the incident on his Facebook account. It showed a group of people yelling at him and his staff.
Johor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR)chairman Hassan Karim and Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan (Parit Yani- Amanah) expressed disappointment for this incident.

“Distributing date is a good will gesture, Liew and his staffs are distributing in a public area, it is sad to know the rude and causing hurt incident had already took place,” Hassan said.
