KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public are given the opportunity to buy essential goods to celebrate the Hari Raya Aidilfitri with price reductions of between five and 20% through the Pre-Syawal Farmers' Market Special Sales throughout the country.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the special sales organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) involved 344 selected Farmers'Markets and would be operational from today until June 24.
"The special sales would provide an alternative for consumers to choose fresh items such as chicken, beef, fish and vegetables of quality and at reasonable prices," he told reporters after launching the special sales at the Pasar Tani Bukit Angkasa, today.
Also present were FAMA Director-General Datuk Ahmad Ishak and Lembah Pantai Umno division head Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.
Ahmad Shabery added that FAMA also gave the assurance that the supply of essential commodities for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri was sufficient.
"Insya-Allah, food supply in conjunction with the festive season is adequate because this is among the matters given priority by FAMA,"he said.
In addition, he said that as of April this year, there were 687 Farmers' Markets in operation involving 29,152 participants of Farmers'Markets throughout the country with total sales value of RM285 million. — Bernama
