KUALA LUMPUR: Slowly moving towards a digitised and integrated public service delivery, the government today launched the e-Land System at the Land and Mines office here.
As of the first day of launch, some 300 over customers had began using the e-Land system to make land transactions at the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Office.
The e-Land system is a project to develop a management and administration system that is fully online for the Land office to achieve the government's aspiration to implement electronic public services.
Introducing the Single Point of Contact (SPOC), Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said all land matters or transactions can be done over one counter compared to separate counters previously.
"It is part of the government's programme to implement e-government service in upgrading the quality of public service delivery.
"The main target for this system are the customers dealing with the Land and Mines Office as well as the District and Land Office in all states," he said.
The e-Land system can among others provide a more user-friendly service through SPOC, online information, faster services related to land matters and facilitate quit rent payment at one-stop payment centres.
Wan Junaidi said the system has already been implemented in Penang and Malacca and after this the government will start the system in Selangor and Negri Sembilan before it goes nationwide.
"This system shows government's promise to the people and country when we began to implement Multimedia Super Corridor back in 1993.
"It can ease the relationship between the government and the people and also a mechanism for an interactive approach," he said.
The system will ease the works and transactions of the land owners, land lessee, federal land hirer, surveyor, lawyer and also developer.
It is also integrated with other government agencies like the Companies Commission, National Registration Department, Inland Revenue Board and Survey and Mapping Department.
