SUNGAI UDANG: PETRONAS through its subsidiary, Malaysian Refining Company Sdn Bhd (MRC), today donated RM184,000 worth of Hari Raya aid to underprivileged residents of Tangga Batu, Sungai Udang and Merlimau areas, today.
The donation, which is part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to help those in need prepare for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.
The recipients consist of 180 families and 320 students from 16 schools. Each received RM250 in cash and a food hamper.
Of the total donated amount, RM90,000 was contributed by Badan Kebajikan Islam PETRONAS (BAKIP), while the remaining RM94,000 was contributed by MRC employees.
MRC's Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Hashim Majid, flagged-off a convoy of MRC volunteers to distribute the donation to the needy, at the MRC office, here.
A total of 200 MRC volunteers went from house to house and to the identified schools to give out the donation and engage with the recipients.
"MRC has always encouraged its staff to make a difference by contributing their time and giving back to society, especially during special occasions like this holy month of Ramadan," said Hashim.
"We hope that this donation will ease their burden this festive season. Efforts such as this bring us closer with members of the community where we operate."
Apart from Hari Raya Aid, MRC also embarks on other CSR programmes, which put emphasis on Education, Environment and Community Wellbeing. — Bernama
