Police nabs gang notorious for robbing 24-hour convenience stores

IPOH: Police have busted a gang here notorious for robbing petrol kiosks and 24-hour convenience stores.
Ipoh City police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the police had arrested three members of the "Geng Tangki" which included its Rohingya mastermind and are looking for a fourth member.
Ipoh City Police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the 27-year-old foreigner had been staying in the country since he was six-years-old.
"The man also holds a UNHCR card but we are checking with the United Nations office to verify the authenticity of the card," he told reporters here yesterday.
The refugee and his two accomplices aged 23 and 25 who have no previous records had been remanded, until tomorrow.
The gang who had been operating for a month was suspected to have robbed three petrol kiosks and a convenience store in Ipoh and Batu Gajah and got away with cash, cigarettes and other items worth RM10,000.
He said two motorcycles including one reported stolen in Sungai Besar, Selangor this year, a samurai sword, knives, axe, handphones, shoes, bags, jackets, a bunch of keys and tapes were seized from them.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 20 year jail sentence and whipping.
