Police nab drug pusher when his car went off the road

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A man who tried to escape from the police for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking was nabbed when his car skidded and went off the road in Jalan Berjaya, Kampung Baru here.
Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) District police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police tried to stop the car driven by the 30-year-old man, believed to be a member of a drug distribution syndicate, but he accelerated the car in an effort to escape them, in the incident at 9pm on June 19.
"Police pursued the car and it went off the road. Police found three packets of heroin and a packet of syabu in the car. Police raided the house of the man, at Taman Sejahtera here and found three packets of heroin," he said here today.
All the drugs seized were worth RM10,000, he said.
In the meantime, he said police detained a drug pusher, 25, and seized syabu and heroin worth RM13,735 at a road block in Jalan Cherok Tok Kun, here, on the same day.
However, the time of arrest was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, he said police also detained a 20-year-old college student who was wanted over drug cases during a road block in Bukit Mertajam here at 11.45am yesterday. — Bernama
