Woman with 61 unpaid summonses detected in 'Op Selamat' in Tikam Batu

SUNGAI PETANI: A woman, in her 40's, was found to have 61 unsettled summonses during the operation code-named "Op Selamat 11/2017" in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri carried out at Jalan Butterworth-Sungai Petani near the Jambatan Merdeka, Tikam Batu here today.
Principal Assistant Director (Investigation/Legal) of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of Bukit Aman, Supt Shahrum Hashim, said it was the highest number of summonses detected during the two-hour operation carried out there, this morning.
"We have re-issued a notice to the traffic offender concerned to settle the unpaid summonses within a period of one month.
"If she wishes to make an appeal, she must go to the court according to the date given, within a period of two months, but a warrant of arrest would be issued if she fails to do either one of the two actions," he told reporters, here today.
Meanwhile, he said three officers and 10 traffic policemen from Bukit Aman, Kedah, Penang and Perlis were involved in the operation from 10am until 12noon.
"We inspected a total of 300 vehicles while 202 summonses were issued," he said.
He added that Op Selamat 11/2017 in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri beginning June 18 would be continued until July 2. — Bernama
