IPOH: The Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ) inspected 515 express buses at four bus terminals in the state from June 18 until yesterday as part of the ongoing Aidilfitri ‘Ops Bersepadu’ operation.
JPJ deputy director-general (operations) Datuk Yusoff Ayub said 22 summonses were issued during the period for various offences following the inspection at the Amanjaya Bus Terminal, Teluk Intan Express Bus Terminal, Kamunting Bus Terminal and Sri Manjung Bus Terminal.
“Among the offences were several associated with signal lights, brakes and tyres,” he told a media conference at the Amanjaya Bus Terminal here yesterday. The operation would be on until July 2.
Yusoff said JPJ advised road users against committing the seven offences usually committed during the Aidilfitri period, namely flouting the red light, overtaking on the double line, not wearing safety belts, using cell-phones while driving, driving on the emergency lane, speeding, and heavy vehicles, especially, hogging the right lane.
"We remind all road-users to comply with the law and we will not hesitate to issue summonses if they do not obey directives,” he said.
He advised road-users to lodge complaints via the JPJ hotline if they found any road-user flouting the law. — Bernama
