PPBM has no intention to dominate Pakatan Harapan

PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has dismissed talks of it attempting to dominate Pakatan Harapan (PH).
PPBM information chief Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor said the party was ready to accept a new leadership structure with the unanimous agreement of other parties in the coalition.
He added the party had also initially wanted to place Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the president of PH to "strengthen the leadership" of the coalition.
"However, PPBM is ready to compromise the position of PH president in the spirit of musyawarah (consensus).
"Therefore, the issue of PPBM trying to dominate PH by controlling the posts of chairman and president does not arise," he said in a statement.
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin are the chairman and president of PPBM respectively.
Kamarudin said the party's stand was brought to the PH presidential council during a meeting held on June 9.
He added PPBM was still waiting for the official reply from the PH secretariat.
Kamarudin said a united voice among coalition members in organising the leadership structure was important to ensure that full attention could be given in winning the 14th General Election.
An earlier report quoting an anonymous source had stated that PPBM had proposed to have both Mahathir and Muhyiddin to helm the top positions in PH, a coalition slated to be formally registered with the Registrar of Societies.

Some opposition parties, however, were reportedly unhappy with the proposal brought forward by the new party, which had just joined the coalition this year.
