Raya exodus: Traffic slow from Bukit Beruntung to Taiping

KUALA LUMPUR: The nightmarish traffic jams due to the Raya exodus (people rushing back to their hometowns to celebrate Aidifitri ) seen yesterday were generally not present on the major highways this afternoon.
A spokesman at Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan (PLUS) traffic operations centre said that as of 4pm, traffic was generally smooth on the North-South Highway except for some stretches in the northern part.
"Traffic  is a bit slow moving from  Bukit Beruntung to Lembah Beringin, Slim River to Sungkai, Bidor to  Taiping and Kuala Kangsar to Bukit Berapit," he told Bernama.
Traffic was reported to be smooth on the East Coast Highways 1 and 2, according a to a Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) spokesman..
