PEKAN: Three siblings, who became orphans in 2014, will welcome Aidilfitri tomorrow in their new house, thanks to Pekan Giat Mara which came to their assistance after hearing their plight.
The house costing RM40,000 was built under Giat Mara's House Aid Programme (PBR) on a piece of land belonging to the children's grandmother.
The house was officially presented by Peramu Jaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Sh Mohd Puzi Sh Ali and was witnessed by Pekan Giat Mara manager, Wan Mohd Zaki Wan Mohd Razali.
Wan Mohd Zaki when met said eight new houses were built and 27 were restored in Pekan district under the programme this year.
"Giat Mara hopes the house gift would cheer up the Hari Raya celebrations of the three orphans and for them to fend for each other under one roof," he said.
The three orphans, Noor Rozana Che Awang, 22,  Mohd Azahari, 20, and Mohd Ibrahim, six, tragically lost their parents within two years, in 2013 and 2014.
As the eldest in the family, Noor Rozana struggled to put her two brothers in school by working as a cleaner at nearby college earning RM900 a month.
After their parent died, the three siblings moved to live with their grandmother, Habsah Sulaiman, 74. — Bernama
