More flood evacuees return home in Malacca

MALACCA: The number of flood victims in Malacca continues to drop, with only 112 people at the relief centres as at 12.45 pm today, from 118 people in the morning.
Malacca Civil Defence Force director Lt .Col (PA) Effendy Ali, in a statement, said six victims in the Jasin district were allowed to return to their home at noon, leaving 85 people from 19 families still at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tehel, Jasin, and 27 people from six families at the relief centres at Balairaya Bukit Balai and Balairaya Kampung Pulau in Alor Gajah.
He said the villages affected by the floods in Alor Gajah are Kampung Padang Kerbau Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai and Kampung Pulau, while in Jasin, they are Kampung Tanjung Laboh and Kampung Parit Lampong.
Heavy rain since Monday caused flooding in the affected areas, he added. — Bernama
