Girl killed, five injured in crash on Kuala Perlis-Changlun highway

ARAU: A four-year-old girl was killed and five others were injured, including two in critical condition, when a Honda Stream car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a tree at KM16 Jalan Kuala Perlis-Changlun last night.

Arau district police chief Supt Nanda Maarof said Nursyazani Shazrin succumbed to her injuries and died at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF), where the injured were also sent for treatment.

Two of the injured were reported in critical condition. They are Nursyazani's mother, Norhana Sawal, 30, and three-year-old cousin, Nur Ufairah Afiqa Mohd Zaini, he said in a statement today.

Also injured in the crash were Nursyazani's father, Shazrin Sajat, 30, who was at the wheel of the car, Norhana's brother, Mohd Zaini Sawal, 41, and his six year-old daughter, Nur Uzma Aqilah.

Nanda said the crash occurred at about 8.30pm when Shazrin was believed to have lost control of the wheel, causing the car to skid before crashing into a tree.

The family, from Johor, was believed to be on their way home from Langkawi, he added. — Bernama
