KUALA LUMPUR: By year-end, the tourist pre-paid card, KL Pass managed by Meridian Tourist Access Sdn Bhd will offer access to 25 tourist attractions in the federal capital.
The company's managing director, Farouk Nurish said, for the time being, the KL Pass could be used to visit 17 places including KL Tower, KLCC Aquaria, Berjaya Times Square Indoor Park, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, and Zouk KL.
"By the end of the year, we are targeting to provide access to eight more destinations by collaborating with our tourism partners in the city.
"We will enhance our online service and give more value to facilitate tourists," he told Bernama here today.
Farouk said the card encompassed standard international features on par with other tourist passes such as Paris Pass, London Pass and New York Pass to offer various promotions apart from ensuring seamless access.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau general manager Khairul Anuar Mhd Juri said KL Pass had gained popularity among international travellers, with almost 2,000 cards sold in the first five months of this year.
"Foreign tourists who came to Kuala Lumpur become aware of the access card that provides users with 'fast lane' access to explore the city without the need to purchase a ticket.
"Although the figure is still short of the original target, the number of tourists who are aware of the pass has increased as shown by the volume of international traffic in the website of KL Pass," he said.
Khairul Anuar said the website had garnered 40,000 visits from 145 countries, adding that ticket sales involved 45 countries, with India, Singapore, and Australia being the biggest customers.
"The sale of the KL Pass has provided us with the data of travellers to help us to be more strategic in planning for future promotions and campaigns to develop these markets." — Bernama
