PETALING JAYA: More than 2,000 participants joined Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today in an early morning run here as part of the state government's "I Love Penang" Run.
They ran a 6km route around Bandar Utama and tucked into many Penang delicacies at the Penang Carnival held here.
The event is the third run under the "I Love Penang" campaign launched by the Penang administration.
The campaign is in protest against the suggestion by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to make Penang a Federal Territory.
Malaysia at present has three such territories, namely Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The first run was held on March 12 in Penang island where some 6,000 people participated while the second run was held in Butterworth on the mainland.
More than 15,000 runners joined in the April 9 mainland run, which was entered into the Malaysia Book of Records for the most number of participants in the fun run category.
In flagging off the run, Lim said Penang should continue to exist as a state within Malaysia.
