BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two Nepalis were arrested today for attempting to bribe police by putting RM100 into a policeman's pants pocket.
It is learnt the incident happened when the two Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) cops found the two suspects, aged 22 and 33, behaving suspiciously while riding a motorcycle at Jalan Kebun Sireh about 11.20am.
Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police asked the two to show their identification documents and also driving licenses for investigation.
"The duo showed their identification documents but admitted that they did not have valid driving licences.
"The police then issued a compound to the motorcyclist and told him to sign on it, but the suspect said he wanted to settle the matter in a faster way," he told theSun when contacted today.
Nik Ros Azhan added the suspect then proceeded to offer RM100 to the policeman who rejected it.
He then placed the money in the policeman's pocket.
Nik Ros Azhan said the case would be referred to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the two suspects will be remanded by the MACC tomorrow.
