14-year-old boy detained in illegal gambling raid

MIRI: A 14-year-old boy was among 40 people detained by police in 25 illegal gambling raids in Sarawak.
State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar said the police carried out raids in various parts of the state, including Miri, Padawan, Kuching, and Sibu.
He said the raids were part of the police's effort to go against all forms of illegal gambling in the state during the festive season.
"The raids were conducted by teams from CID headquarters and district CIDs. A 14-year-old school dropout was among those arrested at an illegal 4D counter in Spaoh, Betong
"30 of them were males while the rest females," he said in a statement yesterday.
Police also seized cash amounting to RM5,046, portable printers, calculators, betting slips, stationeries as well as handphones and computers used in the gambling dens.
