GEORGE TOWN: Be cool and stay cool while dining at Penang's latest attraction, the Ice Cafe in Penang at Lebuh Victoria.
Imagine enjoying snowflakes at a freezing cold temperature of under 10°C as you savour their desserts and beverages.
Opened back in April this year, owner Desmond Loh, 40, said the idea of setting up a cafe serving icy cold sweet treats was a new perspective to attract cafe-goers.
He said many cafe-goers flocked to the premises since it was opened as the experience of sipping drinks in a cooling atmosphere prompted many to drop by.
He said the unusual winter-like surroundings were also one of reasons to attract different groups of people to check it out.
"It is a totally different concept compared to other outlets, " he told theSun.
As if the temperature is not cold enough, Ice Cafe also offers various icy desserts to cool down their patrons in the hot weather.
Loh said a unique feature was the snowflake which is served in an ice bowl and its texture is coarse.
There are various flavours of snowflakes available comprising mango snowflake, kiwi grape snowflake, strawberry snowflake and others which are sold for between RM10 and RM20.
It is something like the "ais kacang" which is flavoured with syrup and topped up with fruits.
"All these are our specialities," Loh said, adding that it was a place worth visiting especially with its beautiful ice sculptures, sweet cooling desserts and chilling temperatures.
Loh said he also plans to provide more choices on the menu once business gets going.
He said the "icy" environment will be fully felt when Christmas approaches at the end of this year.
"It suits the Yuletide joy," he added.
The outlet's business hours are from 10.30am to 10.30pm daily.
