Unemployed man jailed for breaking police station door

IPOH: An unemployed man was sentenced to one-year imprisonment by the Magistrate's Court here today for breaking the main door of the enquiry office of the Tanjung Rambutan police station.
Magistrate Siti Salwa Jaáfar handed down the sentence on P.Sivam, 39, who pleaded guilty to the charge, and ordered him to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest on June 29 according to the facts of the case, at 10.15pm, on June 29, Sivam, who was in a drunken state ran into the police station and suddenly charged towards the main glass door of the enquiry office causing it to break and incurring a loss of RM500.
Deputy public prosecutor Naidatul Athirah Azman prosecuted, while the accused was represented by Chiang Mei Wan, from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) who requested for a more lenient sentence as the accused supported six children and was repentant of the offence committed. — Bernama
