Auxiliary cop killed in hit-and-run accident

PETALING JAYA: An auxiliary police officer, who was attached to KLIA2 police station, was killed in a hit-and-run accident at the KM9.8 along Elite Highway here today.
Selangor Traffic chief Supt Kamaludin Mohamad said Megat Farid Mohamad Zabir, 22, died at the scene after he was believed to been hit by a lorry.
"Megat Farid was on his way home in Pulau Indah, Klang, after completing his 24-hour shift. The accident occurred at around 9.30am today. Based on the investigation, we believe he was thrown off his motorcycle during the accident.
"Investigators recovered his motorcycle parts at the scene," Kamaludin said in a statement here today.
The body was sent to Hospital Putrajaya for a post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
Police are also looking for eyewitnesses to help them with their investigations.
