Dengue fever go up by 77.8% in Kedah

ALOR STAR: Kedah recorded a 77.8% hike in dengue fever cases or 871 cases from Jan 1 to July1 compared to 381 cases during the same period last year.
State Health Department director, Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail said there were three deaths due to dengue involving two cases in Kulim and Kuala Muda (one) districts compared to one case during the same period last year.
He said six districts also showed hikes in cases compared to the same period last year, namely, Kulim (229 cases compared to 75 cases), Kuala Muda (298 compared to 148), Kubang Pasu (58 compared to 21), Sik (55 compared to 11), Padang Terap (27 compared to 11) and Bandar Baru (14 compared to 11).
In JOHOR BARU, Johor state executive councillor in charge of health Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the number of dengue cases in the state from January to June dropped by 3,552 cases or 57.5% from 7,472 cases recorded during the same period last year.
The total included 169 cases reported in the 26th week from June 25 to 30.
The number of deaths involved dengue was 11 cases, or equal to last year's cases. — Bernama
