Police arrest four after shooting incident in Ipoh

    IPOH: Police have arrested four people believed to be members of a gang in Menglembu here following a quarrel between two groups that led to an attempted murder on Sunday.
    Perak Police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said one of the suspects had opened fire with a revolver at three people, also believed to be gang members, at about 8pm.
    The incident was the result of a quarrel between the two groups that started during a football match at the Ipoh Padang at about 4pm on that day, he said.
    “At about 6.30pm, one of the suspects telephoned one of the victims for ‘talks’ but the meeting flared up into a heated argument.
    “The suspect drew a revolver and fired six times at the three victims, hitting them in the arms and abdomens,” he said in a statement here today.
    Hasnan said the three victims, in their 20s, were from Ipoh and believed to be members of Gang 08. They had been admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, and their condition was reported to be stable.
    He said the police launched an operation and arrested the four suspects aged between 21 and 35 around Ipoh.
    They were all from Batu Gajah, and believed to be members of Gang 21, he added. — Bernama
