BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Magistrate's Court here has fixed Aug 3 for mention of a case involving a 19-year-old youth who drove against traffic flow ending in the death of a man.

Magistrate Jamaliah Abd Manap set the new date for submission of documents involved in the case.

She also told the accused, Ng Pei Ven, to ensure her lawyer is present at the next mention date so a trial date could be fixed.

The accused, who was dressed in a black blouse, had earlier told the court her lawyer was not present.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosectuor (DPP) Kamaliza Md Zin.

Ng was charged with administering drugs into her body in connection with a fatal accident, which killed one Mohamad Fandi Rosli, 26, at 7.50am at KM134 of the North South Expressway (NSE) on March 14.

She was also charged with driving under the influence of drugs to such an extent that she could not control her vehicle, causing the death of Mohamad Fandi.

She was charged on March 17 but the court had discharged and acquitted here on the first charge on May 12.

When she was first charged, lawyer Parmjit Singh Mahinder represented her.

Parmjit said the family of Ng discharged him a few days after her acquittal for the first charge.

"I am not representing her anymore," he said when contacted today.
