    LOS ANGELES: Five blockbusters to check out in theaters this summer.
    Transformers: The Last Knight
    The war between humans and Transformers continues with a fifth movie, once again directed by Michael Bay. Billed as a darker film than previous installments, this episode marks the return of Mark Walhberg and Stanley Tucci, and adds Anthony Hopkins to the cast.

    Spider-Man: Homecoming
    
After appearing in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man returns with a new solo movie that sees the superhero fighting crime on the streets of New York. This time, Spidey goes up against The Vulture, also proving himself to The Avengers, in particular Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

    Dunkirk
    
Three years after Interstellar, Christopher Nolan has changed style with a World War II movie about the evacuation of Allied soldiers from Dunkirk in Northern France. Soldiers from Britain, Belgium, Canada and France were surrounded by the German Army on the beaches of Dunkirk and evacuated in Operation Dynamo between May 26 and June 4 1940.

    Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
    
Luc Besson returns to sci-fi 20 years after the hit movie The Fifth Element. His new interstellar adventure, based on French sci-fi comics by Jean-Claude Mézières and Pierre Christin, follows special operatives Valerian and Laureline, charged with keeping order throughout the human territories. The pair are sent to restore peace on Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where species from across the universe have converged, which is now under threat from a dark force.

    The Dark Tower
    
Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey go head to head in this post-apocalyptic western with supernatural undertones. A continuation of Stephen King’s novel series of the same name, The Dark Tower follows lone gunslinger Roland Deschain on his journey through a parallel universe to find and protect the mythical structure which supports all realities.
