Four underage boys among six charged with Sathiwill's murder (Updated)

GEORGE TOWN: Six persons, including four underage males, and another two persons still at large were charged with the murder of a hotel worker at the Magistrate's Court here today.

A. Thulasi, 30, E. Vinoth, 25, the four aged between 15 and 17, and two others still at large were charged with the murder of one M. Sathiwill, 20.

They were accused of committing the offence at No. 1, Tingkat 16, Block J, Jalan Boundary between 1am and 1pm on June 27.

The charge comes under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, reads "each of several persons liable for an act done by all, in like manner as if done by him alone".

Those who are found guilty for the offence face the mandatory death penalty.

Those in the dock nodded their heads in understanding when the charge was read to them in Tamil by the court interpreter.
They appeared calm and no plea was recorded before Magistrate Mohamed Amin Shahul Hamid.

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Nurul Fatin Hussain prosecuted the case while all of the accused were not represented.
Mohamed Amin set Oct 3 for mention pending the medical report.

The court room was packed with family members of the accused and the victim who were waiting at the court complex since early in the morning.

An elderly woman, believed to be the grandmother of the deceased, was seen sobbing quietly when the charge was read.
