Lorry fire causes two-hour jam on Elite highway

SHAH ALAM: Motorists travelling along the Elite Highway from the direction of Setia Alam to Subang near here had to endure a two-hour traffic jam when a crane lorry burst into flames at Km5.6 of the highway this evening.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Mohd Sani Harul said in the 6.45pm incident, a motorcyclist travelling on the highway saw the back of the lorry on fire at the Setia Alam exit and informed the driver.
"The driver of the lorry, in his 20's, then stopped the vehicle in the emergency lane and contacted the department," he said in a statement today.
He said firefighters managed to put out the blaze in 30 minutes.
"Traffic returned to normal in stages after 8pm," he said, adding that the cause of fire was still being investigated. — Bernama
