37 foreign women, 3 locals held in Ops Noda

GEORGE TOWN: Police have detained 37 foreign women and three locals suspected to be involved in the vice in an operation here early this morning.
Penang CID chief SAC Zainol Samah said in the operation dubbed as Op Noda a team from state police headquarters raided an entertainment outlet at Jalan Bukit Minyak, Bukit Mertajam, at about 12.30am.
He said among those who has been detained were three local, 22 Thai, 10 Vietnamese, and five Laos women aged between 20 and 40 years old.
He said all being detained would be investigate further for allegedly being involved in prostitution and vice activities.
"All suspects has been taken to Central Seberang Prai district police headquarters," he said in a statement released to the media today.
The case will be investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration 1959/63 and Section 39 (b) of the Immigration Rules 1963.
