Man charged with criminal intimidation, obstructing police

PETALING JAYA: A 30-year-old man was today charged with criminally intimidating a 40-year-old woman by threatening to kidnap her child and distributing their pictures on Facebook.
M. Ganesh Kumar was also charged with obstructing a policeman from discharging his duties at the magistrate's court here.
He claimed trial to both the charges.
Ganesh allegedly criminally intimidated the woman at a supermarket in Kelana Jaya at about 4pm on June 28.
In the second charge, he was alleged to have obstructed Insp R. Muruges from discharging his duties, in front of MCIS building in Petaling Jaya at about 11.15am on July 5.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Natasha Chin Le Jy did not offer bail, as the second charge is under section 186 of the Penal Code.
However, his lawyer Siti Rohaya asked for bail.
Magistrate Mohd Azali Ibrahim set bail at RM6,000 with one surety and fixed Aug 11 for a mention.
