Aussie scientists claim they have found missing MH370 plane

PETALING JAYA: A team of investigators from Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) have said they believe they may have found the wreckage of the MH370 plane.
The Boeing 777 jet vanished during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014 with 239 people on board.
The team said it has narrowed down the plane’s potential location to a fraction of the Indian Ocean along the Seventh Arc that was previously searched last December.
“We think we know quite precisely where the plane is,” Dr David Griffin from the CSIRO told a conference in Darwin this week, the New Daily of Australia reported on July 5.
“There’s a strong current crossing across the seventh arc at [latitude] 35 degrees south, so we think the plane crashed into that current going to the north-west. That uniquely explains the non-arrival of debris on Australian shores.”
Charitha Pattiaratchi, a Professor of Coastal Oceanography at the University of Western Australia, said a new search was feasible but that he did not believe the political will was there, the report added.
He said it was up to the Malaysian government to decide whether or not to begin a new search.
