GEORGE TOWN: DAP will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the latest instruction by Registrar Of Societies (ROS) to conduct the re-election of the party Central Executive Committee (CEC).
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said so far the party has not received any official letter from ROS informing about the need to hold the re-election.
"We haven't received any official letter from the ROS yet, so I can't comment further on the matter until it is discussed in the meeting," he said after officiating the opening of this year's George Town Heritage celebration at The Majestic Theatre.
Lim who is also the Penang Chief Minister said the party will also study the content of the official letter when the party receive it from the ROS.
He said the statement issued by the ROS today is a serious matter and he was shocked when he was told about the latest instruction by the ROS.
"We look this as a very serious matter, we did the election for the party in 2012 and another in 2013 after complaints were lodged againts us", he said.
Lim added that any decision on the re-election will only be decided after the meeting which will be held at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur at 2pm tomorrow.
A press conference is also scheduled to take place after the meeting tomorrow.
